| Hi again!
Girls, study this:
http://g.christianbook.com/g/slideshow/8/838323/main/838323_1_toc_dp.jpg I'm not a big fan of study books, but this book is amazing! It directs you to really dig into the Word. This book is super applicable to our age group. There's a lot of meat to this small study book. Topics include: Obedience, Discipline, Discretion, God's Character, Gentle & Quiet Spirit, Purity, Wisdom, Becoming like Christ and others! I've carried so much away from the guidance of this study book. Check it out girls! A great book for discipleship, small groups or personal study.

| Hi! Merry Christmas kids!
My bureau at work had their annual Christmas luncheon. At the very end of our party, we all shared our Christmas plans and what we were thankful for. I shared the general things I was thankful for. But I was ashamed to share with my co-workers what I am most thankful for. God has used this past year to bring me to unending gratitude for His Word.
During my time in China, I learned so much about the importance of love. I am nothing without love. Anything I do and say is absolutely nothing without love. Knowledge must be accompanied by love. God is love. It's easier for me to love someone or something that's tangible. But what about loving the One who we do not see now? I began to ask God to show me how to love Him, His Son and His Spirit. Oh, and how He has answered my petition! Through His Word, God is showing me how to love Him.
"Oh how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day." Psalm 119:97
Oh....loving His Word, hoping and waiting in His Word, desiring His Word, remaining in His Word, being satisfied in His Word, being comforted by His Word, finding joy/love/peace/hope in His Word and gazillions of other things in His Word! How GOOD is His Word! Can I get an amen?
Lacking peace? "Those who love Your law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble." Psalm 119: 165
Absolutely nothing else you seek or do satisfies as God's Word does. No boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, knowledge, money, power, television show, book, idol or anything else this world has can satisfy you to the degree His Word can. Set aside all of those things, pop open your Bible and dig in! I know at times it's hard. But be encouraged dear brethren, He will NOT abandon the work He has begun in you because His love for you endures forever. He will bring you to perfection and He will make your joy complete. May He bring us to proclaim this:
"The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. I opened my mouth wide and panted, For I longed for Your commandments." Psalm 119:130-131
Life is rough. Brethren, our life here on earth is a pilgrimage to Heaven. We are on a (long & rough) journey until we arrive there. May His Word be our songs on our pilgrimage.
"Your statutes are my songs in the house of my pilgrimage." Psalm 119:54
Kids, may you continue to fall more and more in love! I am praying the following for you:
"Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your Law. Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, And I shall observe it to the end." Psalm 119:18, 33
we (exist) for Him. 1 Cor 8:6 :)

| This movie is worthy of watching:
http://www.cbn.com/special/amazinggrace/ True story (sort of) behind the hymn. About a Christian man endeavoring to end the British transatlantic slave trade. He thought he had to choose between practicing politics or his faith. He learned he could do both. --------------------------------------- I have awesome co-workers. I don't have too much contact with younger people. Everyone here is older or near retirement. And everyone knows my mother. Ha. The older I become, the more similarities my mom and I see in our personalities and qualities. But we also differ more in opinions & some beliefs. I eat lots of frozen yogurt. I buy a 24 pack of yogurt at Costco and put it in the freezer at work. I defrost it in the microwave for 14 seconds and it's the yummiest! You ought to try it. This post-college period in life is odd. Sometimes, I really feel like I'm floundering. I'm learning about satisfaction in Him, thanksgiving, praise, contentment, joy, God's Word and hope. I think they're all really interconnected. I've been looking into various biblical counseling programs. I'm confused about psychology and biblical counseling. I believe the Bible is the only source of true & eternal healing. Biblical counseling programs that prepare one to work within the church do not necessarily equip one to work outside the church. I've read that you can't counsel someone outside of the church...that's evangelism, not counseling. I love the church. I want to build up the church...especially women in the church. I also have a desire to work outside the church. But it seems like the world requires its counselors to use psychological methods (which are sometimes only band aids) in order to work outside the church. I don't know what to think of seminaries that offer tons of psychological courses. But then those seminaries could prepare me to work in and outside of the church. Someone told me it's good to know both the biblical and the psychological approaches to counseling. I can't separate the two if I don't know both. What one learns is different from what one accepts as truth and puts into application. I have a lot of learning to do. Referrals to books or people who or more knowledgeable about these things would be appreciated. SeekTruth. | | |
